We are a couple that lives on a beautiful, 43-acre farm in Central Kentucky. While we have always enjoyed the outdoors and animals, we both grew up in the city. Learning to live on, build on and maintain a working farm has been one heck of a learning experience. But when the two of us put our heads together, we can usually figure out just about anything AND manage not to kill each other in the process. Bonus!
After following some really great DIY house blogs, and because our lives seem like one never-ending project, I decided that it might be helpful to others if we posted some of our farm DIY projects. I hope you will find our posts a great resource for when you are stuck, or about to begin a new project and need some guidance, or just want to laugh a little.
In addition to our DIY projects, we also raise a mixed flock of chickens for farm-fresh eggs and board a variety of horses. So, if you live in the Central Kentucky area, feel free to contact us for great tasting, humanely raised and awesome and beautiful eggs. There is no better feeling than to know where your food comes from.
Other creatures that live on the farm are 4 dogs, 3 cats, 7 horses, 2 geese, 1 toad, 2 goldfish and 3 Nubian goats. Best tip you will ever get from this site, don’t ever get geese or goats – more on this later.
In addition to farming, I compete in a sport known as Combined Driving as well as navigate and groom for other CDE (combined driving event) drivers. Imagine eventing, but with 1-4 horses or ponies and a carriage, minus the jumping of course.
I do a bit of photography, web page development, application development, database development, technology and computer consultation, thinking outside the box, helping people figure out how to do things easier and more efficiently, or whatever needs to be done kind of stuff. Jason is also one smart dude, and is an even better organizer, manager, planner, thinker outside the box than I am.
And last but not least, we do have day jobs working for a great company that keeps our lights on, keeps us healthy and according to my mother will provide us with a good retirement.
So, thank you for visiting and we hope what you find here to be helpful or at the very least, entertaining.
